Vol 6 Issue 8
30 April 2009

Welcome to the April edition of the Arts Council Newsletter

April saw the announcement of a new budget for the Arts Council for 2009; the figure was confirmed on the publication of the revised estimates. We include a statement from our Chairman, Pat Moylan on new figure.

We are delighted to inform artists and organisations that they can now submit their events for a new Arts Council calendar which will be launched shortly, and will be promoted widely. The service aims to showcase the arts right across the country, encourage more people to attend or participate in more events, and demonstrate the enormous dividends that flow to society and the economy from public investment in the arts.

Elsewhere in the newsletter, we include notice of a number of information meetings that the traditional arts team are planning in collaboration with some local authorities around Leinster and the midlands; we have information on a theatre consultation process which will take place during the summer; finally we include an update on the new public art website which will now be launched in May.

Rounding off the newsletter are our regular articles on news from the arts community and international opportunities from the CCP.
