Welcome to the August edition of our Newsletter.

As you know the Arts Council will publish a new 10-year strategy (2016-2025) next month.  It is important to be clear as to the practical implications for organisations making applications for recurring funding for next year.  For organisations supported through our three main grant programmes, Regularly Funded Organisations (RFO), Annual Programming Grant (APG) and Annual Funding (AF), the window for applications will open on 10 September 2015, however it will be for a nine-month funding year (1 April 2016 to 31 December 2016).

As the 10-year strategy will have been just published in September, organisations are not being asked to reflect the new strategy in their applications for support under the three main grant programmes for the period April – December 2016. Formal assessment of all applications will be made using the customary criteria and guidelines and informed by Developing the Arts: Arts Council Strategic Statement (2013).

The communications process to follow publication of the new strategy will begin in the autumn and details will be announced in due course.

Also in this Newsletter, we have an update on our programme at the heart of the Government’s Ireland 2016 initiative; plus reminders of upcoming deadlines; a ‘save-the-date’ from Arts Audiences; interesting news from the community; a consultation process around post-primary education art, craft and design; plus our Creative Europe Desk round-up.

Yours sincerely,

Orlaith McBride
