International conference on the role of the arts in language planning.
Leading Gaeltacht arts practitioners and minority language experts will gather in the Connemara Gaeltacht over a two day period to examine the crucial role the arts can play in language planning, most particularly in the Irish situation. Models of best practice will be presented by visitors from Scotland, Wales, the Basque Country (hosting City of Culture 2016) and Friesland in The Netherlands (hosting City of Culture 2018). Gaeltacht-based artists and organisations from Ireland will share their stories and experiences, presenting them as case studies so as to provide audiences with insights on how best to organise high quality arts projects.
