Tradition Now: Celebrating the most Innovative Traditional Music of Today and Honouring a Master Pioneer

The Arts Council are delighted to present Tradition Now which returns to the National Concert Hall (NCH) from 24th - 28th October. This is the fourth edition of Tradition Now in partnership with the NCH. The festival takes a unique look at the evolution of traditional music in a fast-moving Ireland, providing a platform for the most forward-thinking artists playing today.

Arts Council publishes new acknowledgement requirements got funded organisations and artists

The Arts Council has updated its acknowledgement requirements, and urged arts organisations and artists to work actively with the Council in advocating for the arts.

 

The state agency for funding and developing the arts published the new document, Working Together, on its website, replacing two previous guides and explaining where, how and why organisations should acknowledge support from the Art Council. Under the conditions of funding, organisations must comply with the guidelines.

 

“In order to maintain and build support for public funding of the arts, it is important that people know where their money is being invested. Your work is the best advertisement that public funding is being put to good use,”  the document says.

Jack Talty appointed Traditional Artist in Residence 2018-19 at University College Cork

The Arts Council, in association with The College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences (UCC) and the School of Music and Theatre (UCC), announce the appointment of the internationally renowned musician and teacher, Jack Talty, as the Traditional Artist in Residence at University College Cork 2018-19. Talty will deliver a series of concerts, workshops, and classes over the course of his 1-year residency, beginning in October.

Eoin O’Sullivan, fiddle player and festival organiser has been appointed as the Sliabh Luachra Musician in Residence in a new collaborative traditional music project between the Arts Offices of Cork, Kerry and Limerick, the Irish Traditional Music Archive.
