5. Elizabeth Macconchy Composition Fellowship – deadline Thursday 3 May, 2012

The Elizabeth Maconchy Composition Fellowship is offered once every three years. This award is intended to further the advanced training and development of a composer. It is offered by the Arts Council specifically to enable a composer to complete a doctoral programme in Composition at a recognised university and celebrates the life and work of the Irish composer Elizabeth Maconchy. The Arts Council will provide funding for three years towards the cost of tuition fees and living expenses. The successful candidate will commence his/her course of study in autumn 2012.

The primary purpose of the Elizabeth Maconchy Composition Fellowship is offered so as to provide a composer with the opportunity to significantly develop their practice through three years of full-time study at doctoral level at a recognised centre of excellence.

Applicants must demonstrate that the doctoral programme at the university of their choice will be of significant value to their artistic development. An ambition to engage with the resources available at the chosen university must be clearly demonstrated.

This award is open to composers to apply for.

€16,000 will be awarded per annum for three years. This is inclusive of course fees.
