South African Arts Participation Study Visit
The Arts Council will welcome a delegation of community art managers and officials from South Africa on a study visit to Ireland from January 29 – 31, 2017.
The visit is part of a South African Department of Arts and Culture and EU funded programme entitled ‘Shukuma Mzansi!’ (Shake up the South), which will focus on learning and addressing key areas such as policy implementation, programming, alternative funding measures and resources within community arts centres in South Africa and Ireland. The South African Department of Arts and Culture, through this initiative and dialogue, are demonstrating their dedication to the revitalisation of the network of centres around South Africa.
During their visit, the group will meet with representatives from with The Arts Council, CREATE, The LAB, Tallaght Community Arts Centre and The Ark and are looking forward to their visit coinciding with the Temple Bar Tradfest. Following their visit to Dublin, the delegation will also visit community arts centres in France and Belgium. In March 2017, each participating EU country will send two delegates to a conference in South Africa on international cultural dialogue around community arts and venues.
