A study visit by South African Community Art Centre Managers to Ireland

A reception was held  in Dublin City Council’s the LAB to welcome a study visit by South African Community Art Centre Managers to Ireland. The reception was attended by staff from the Arts Council, the South African Embassy and The South African Department of Arts and Culture.

The visit was part of a South African Department of Arts and Culture and EU-funded programme entitled Shukuma Mzansi! (Shake up the South), demonstrating their dedication to the revitalisation of the network of community arts centres around South Africa.

The Art Centre Managers had a full and varied schedule during their visit. This included visits and meetings with a range of arts and cultural organisations including The Lab, Foley Street, Create, The Ark, Bluefire Festival, Tallaght Community Arts, and RUA RED.

Following their visit to Dublin, the delegation went on to visit community arts centres in France and Belgium. Each participating EU country will send two delegates to a study trip and conference in South Africa on international cultural dialogue around community arts and venues.
