2. Engaging with Architecture Scheme decisions
Earlier in 2011, the Arts Council and the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht announced the Engaging with Architecture Scheme 2011, with the purpose of supporting projects to engage the public with architecture. The Engaging with Architecture Scheme was developed as a partnership initiative in response to both the Government Policy on Architecture 2009 - 2015 Towards a Sustainable Future: Delivering Quality within the Built Environment and the Arts Council's research into Public Engagement with Architecture (2009). The closing date for applications was 21 July 2011 for projects taking place before 31 March 2012. There were 31 eligible applications received, with a request for funding of €432,882. Funding was offered to 4 applicants amounting to €70,000 in total. The successful applicants are: Icecream Architecture; architect Laura Harty and artist Jennie Moran; Offaly County Council and South Dublin County Council. Further details of the successful projects are available here. (On the drop down menu click Engaging with Architecture Scheme and then the year 2011)
