RAISE: The Arts Council has appointed Kieran MacSweeney to the role of Private Investment Adviser.

The role is to take RAISE to the next level via research and to recommend, implement and monitor appropriate interventions to develop sector wide private giving across our funded organisations.   Additionally, as Adviser Kieran will be expected to act as a conduit for the Arts Council in influencing public opinion, such as the business community and high Net Worth individuals on the importance of arts philanthropy and how businesses can benefit from a mutually rewarding relationship with arts organisations and from a personal perspective how individuals can benefit from being involved personally with arts organisations.

Kieran has extensive Private Investment experience advising on the establishment of a Philanthropic Foundation over the past 5 years with the LIT Foundation, establishing a €1m seed fund for start-up companies and a €1m student scholarship fund, recruited a high-level Advisory Board and has been successful in raising six & seven figure philanthropic donations.   Kieran also has extensive senior management experience, spanning over 30 years, within high growth US multinational and start-up companies including Avocent International where he worked for thirteen years as Managing Director. A graduate of Trinity College, Kieran is also a member of the Institute of Directors as well as the Marketing Institute, has successfully completed the Chartered Director Certificate and Diploma programme with the Institute of Directors and is a past-President of Limerick Chamber.

Kieran is currently arranging to meet all the organisations involved in RAISE as well as related stakeholders to help develop a baseline to start forming recommendations for the next steps. Kieran’s style is very participative and inclusive where he will attempt to take on board all the relevant and appropriate recommendations from the experiences to date. Kieran can be contacted at kieran.macsweeney@artscouncil.ie or on 087 2513986.
