In 2018 the Arts Council commissioned Behaviour & Attitudes (B&A) to undertake a national public survey on arts attendance, participation and engagement. Hear what the public had to say when John O’Mahony of B&A presents the outcome of this nationally representative survey of over 1,000 adults from across Ireland.

The Arts Council and the National Concert Hall announce inaugural Liam O’Flynn Award

The Arts Council and the National Concert Hall announced the Liam O’Flynn Award at a concert in homage to the late musician at the NCH. The Liam O’Flynn Award is a joint initiative of the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and the National Concert Hall/An Ceoláras Náisiúnta as part of its partnership for the promotion, appreciation and enjoyment of traditional arts, which includes the Tradition Now festival of traditional music.

Applications for the Jerome Hynes Fellowship 2019/20 are now open

The Application window is now open for the Jerome Hynes Fellowship for 2019/20. It is open to candidates who live and work in Ireland and are committed to developing their career as a cultural leader in Ireland.  The fellowship is an initiative of the London-based Clore Leadership Programme, which annually attracts in the region of twenty-five exceptional individuals who have the potential to play a significant role across a wide range of cultural activity.

Irish Chamber Orchestra's principal conductor shares the spotlight...

The wizardry of Jörg Widmann has already resulted in some incredible performances from the Irish Chamber Orchestra and November, is no exception.  Widmann conducts the ICO in SPOTLIGHT, a trio of concerts in Limerick (UCH), Cork (CIT Cork Orchestra Society) and at City Hall, Waterford (Symphony Club of Waterford & Waterford Music) on 15, 16 +17 November.

Peripheries: Patrick Graham, Eddie Kennedy, Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh

Peripheries presents three of Ireland’s finest contemporary painters from three different generations - Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh (b. 1977), Eddie Kennedy (b. 1960) and Patrick Graham (b. 1943). The exhibition is curated by John Daly, Hillsboro Fine Art, Dublin, and presents new and recent work by the artists. It celebrates both the common ground shared by them in their artistic practice as well as the versatility of contemporary painting.

UK organisations will still be eligible to participate in Creative Europe projects regardless of the outcome of Brexit.  However, whether they will be able to participate as full partners or whether their status will have to be that of a third country partner is unclear.
