Vol 8 Issue 3
30 November 2010

Welcome to the November edition of the Arts Council Newsletter

In this month's newsletter, we announce the closing date for the next round of Bursary Awards.  We also remind you of the upcoming deadline for the Kevin Kieran Architecture Award, a biennial award which affords an emerging architect the opportunity to develop and deliver a research project and design and run a building contract for the Office of Public Works

Arts Audiences has published the latest audience report drawn from the Target Group Index.  It provides a short profile of arts attendance, providing information on audiences for each artform.   It also contains information on how arts audiences consume media.  We hope that this will help arts organisations make informed marketing decisions. The report is for anyone who is interested in high-quality information about audiences for the arts in Ireland, particularly those involved in marketing.

Next month, an Arts and Disability Resource Pack entitled Shift in Perspective will be launched. The resource pack is designed to assist arts organisations and venues to develop innovative approaches in high-quality contemporary arts and disability practice.  It is also hoped that the pack will encourage organisations and venues to make their events more accessible to artists and audiences with disabilities.

Also in this edition, we announce the decisions for the Touring and Dissemination of Work Scheme – 2011 (Strand 2), a scheme supporting the touring and dissemination of work in all art disciplines.  We also publish the decisions from the Engaging with Architecture Scheme, a new scheme that the Arts Council launched with the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government with the purpose of engaging the public with architecture.   The recipients of the Visual Artists' Workspace Scheme 2011 are revealed; this new scheme is aimed at assisting group studios throughout the country provide the best possible environment for working visual artists.  In addition, we announce the recipient of the first Arts and Older People Bursary Award (Artist in the Community Scheme), an award designed to support and nurture the professional development of an arts practitioner working in the practice area of arts and older people.

Finally, the newsletter rounds off with our regular articles on news from the arts community and international news from the Cultural Contact Point.
