Update 2016: Latest news about the Arts Council’s programme as part of Ireland 2016

An international jury reconvened on 23 July to make the final selection of Open Call Projects Awards. We look forward to announcing the results, in the presence of the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, on 6 August.

We have received 102 applications to the 16x16 Artists’ Bursaries Awards – a series of special bursaries for emerging artists, each to the value of €12,500.

An additional budget allocationwas made to the 2016 Touring and Dissemination of Works Scheme to support applications seeking to tour work which responds to the centenary of the Easter Rising 1916. Awards have been made to Linenhall Arts Centre (Visual Arts), Abbey Theatre (Theatre), Chamber Choir Ireland (Music). More details to follow soon.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Downey as Project Manager for the Arts Council Programme as part of Ireland 2016 and Maria Moynihan Lee as Project Manager for the National Choral Project.

Karen Downey is an independent curator and arts consultant. She worked as curator at Belfast Exposed between 2000 and 2015 and was responsible for the development of contemporary exhibition and publication programmes.
