6. Decisions: Engaging with Architecture Scheme
Earlier in 2010, the Arts Council and the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government launched a new scheme with the purpose of engaging the public with architecture. The Engaging with Architecture Scheme was developed as a partnership initiative in response to both the Government Policy on Architecture 2009 - 2015 Towards a Sustainable Future: Delivering Quality within the Built Environment and the Arts Council's research into Public Engagement with Architecture (2009). There was an overall available fund of €100,000. The closing date for applications was 16 September 2010 for projects taking place before the end of August 2011. There were 38 eligible applications received, with a demand of €658,954. Funding was offered to 7 applicants. Further information - To view the artists and organisations in receipt of funding - please go to the decisions database on the Arts Council website: select 'Engaging with Architecture Scheme' from the 'Fund' menu; select the year '2011' and click on 'Search'.
