Alchemy Music announced as latest recipient of The Piano Scheme

Piano Scheme supported by Jeffers Pianos, in association with Galway Jazz Festival and Music Network

Music Network is delighted to announce that Alchemy Music is the latest recipient of The Piano Scheme, an initiative that aims to provide access to concert standard pianos for professional musicians resident in Ireland and working in jazz/improvised music, for public performances throughout the country.

Alchemy Music is a collective of Wicklow based musicians that aims to provide excellent and affordable concerts in atmospheric settings around Co. Wicklow. Established by Eamon Sweeney and Rachel Factor the group’s mission is making music that connects people through the production of powerful cross-genre musical events and community projects that unite, engage and uplift.

For this concert, Alchemy Music presents Francesco Turrisi (piano), Mike Nielsen (guitar) and Lance Coburn (piano) in concert at Nun’s Cross Church, Ashford, Co. Wicklow at 8pm on Saturday 27th October. The trio will perform Gershwin’s '3 Preludes' and Rhapsody in Blue as well as original works by Francesco Turrisi and Michael Nielsen. Tickets are available from
eventbrite.ie.

Initiated by Galway Jazz Festival, in partnership with Music Network and supported by Jeffers Pianos, The Piano Scheme aims to:

  • Facilitate increased employment opportunities, and promote fair remuneration, for Ireland-resident musicians
  • Increase regional access to live jazz/improvised music performance for audiences
  • Develop the range of promoters programming jazz/improvised music throughout Ireland.

Application procedure and guidelines available here. For further information, please contact Andreas Ziemons, Operations Administrator, Tel: +353 1 4750224 Email: operations@musicnetwork.ie.
