Festivals Conference- European Culture Desk

Change Makers conference

The transformative power of festivals

Context

On February 13th and 14th 2020 the Arts Council in partnership with the MA in Festival Arts at University of Limerick will present ‘Change Makers’ Conference, a gathering of arts festival stakeholders to map and take stock of work taking place in this area of arts practice in Ireland. The Creative Europe Culture Desk will be participating and providing information on the ways festivals can work at a European level.

 

The event will bring together professional and voluntary festival organisers, artists, funding agencies, policy makers and academics that have a vested interest in this domain to map current practices, network, assess the contribution of the festival sector’s contribution to the cultural life of contemporary Ireland and support festival capacity building.

 

 

Call for Funding: Study on the health and well-being of music creators

Context

The present call for tender aims at undertaking a study on the specific health risks and concerns that affect musicians and creators of music. The general objective of this call is to deliver an expert study that provides a general overview of the occupational health risks musicians and music creators face, and an EU-wide mapping of existing initiatives contributing towards the prevention and treatment of adverse health issues related to performance and musical creation.

This call is published within the context of the Preparatory action “Music Moves Europe: Boosting European music diversity and talent” aims at paving the way towards the “sectorial support for music” as a new element for the next Creative Europe Programme after 2020.

There will also be calls announced in 2020 for the Music Moves Europe award and iPortunus the artist’s mobility award.

 

 

 

Creative Europe Desk Ireland Culture Office Highlights 2019

 

2019 was a great year for us here in the Creative Europe Desk Ireland Culture Office. Each year our work takes us across the width and breadth of the country and 2019 was no different. In addition to Dublin we participated and organised events in Galway, Kilkenny, Cork, and Waterford. We were involved in over 14 events either organised by ourselves or with other organisations.

Breakfast Event on EU Copyright Directive with David Kavanagh

This free breakfast event was aimed at authors, screenwriters, composers, visual artists, and performers. We provided breakfast which was followed by a short talk from David Kavanagh from FSE (Federation of Screenwriters in Europe)- David gave an overview and update on the EU Copyright directive and what it means in practical terms for content creators working in Ireland. 

 

X Pollinator Event December – Lir Theatre, Dublin

 

X Pollinator was a Cross-Disciplinary Professional Development Initiative for female talent.

Creative Europe Culture Desk presented case studies of successful Irish Creative Europe Projects and professional development programmes with a focus on gender equality at this event.

 

Free Co-operation Projects Workshop, Dublin, November 2019

We hosted a free application workshop in Dublin in the Arts Council, 70 Merrion Square, Dublin 2 on Friday 8th November. This workshop was for organisations who intended applying for the upcoming Co-operations Projects Call.

Creative Europe Case Study - BeSpectACTive! - October, 2019

Audience and potential applicants heard first-hand from organisations and artists involved in BeSpectACTive! - a Creative Europe funded project which encourages ‘active spectatorship’ through an innovative model of audience development. This event was also a great opportunity for networking with the European Partners and organisations involved in the Project.

Culture Networking Breakfast at FRESH STREET Galway

FRESH STREET is an International Seminar for the Development of Street Arts which took place in May in Galway. We hosted a free Culture Networking Breakfast in May for organisations interested in how they can bring their work across Europe.

Seminar on EU Funding for Arts & Culture- plus spotlight on Georgia

The CED Culture desk provided a free seminar on Creative Europe funding for the arts and culture sectors with a spotlight on Georgia. The event hosted colleagues from the Georgia Creative Europe Georgia desk who presented on their various projects and opportunities for artists.

Centre for Creative Practices

The annual meeting point for migrant and culturally diverse artists

The Centre for Creative Practices invited us to participate in their second edition of their annual Meeting Point for Migrant and Culturally Diverse Artists. At this Get-Together Day for Migrant and Culturally Diverse Artists, we presented funding opportunities from the culture Creative Europe Desk alongside our colleagues from the Arts Council of Ireland, Create, CFCP and other organisations supporting migrant and culturally diverse artists in Ireland.

 

Museum Conference

The visual arts and the museum sector is of great interest to the CED culture desk as a sector which is very relevant in terms of creating networks and partners with other European counterparts.

The Creative Europe Desk participated with an information desk at the We Are All Engagers: Museums Conference in Cork in May, 2019.
