Main grants process

The application window for the Arts Council’s three main grant programmes: Regularly Funded Organisations, Annual Programming Grants and Annual Funding has now closed. This relates to applications seeking funding for the period April 2012-March 2013. The next stage of the process involves the assessment of applications.  The Arts Council considers all applications, makes decisions and communicates these to applicants in accordance with set procedures. The aim is to ensure that the system for making awards is fair and transparent.  The Arts Council’s Budget 2012 figure (current) has been provided - €63.1 million, and it is expected that grant allocations will be communicated to applicants by the end of February.

Given the impact of recent reductions and the medium term economic outlook, it is likely that the Council will once again adopt a prudent approach in responding to grant programme applications. In doing so, the Council will prioritise protecting a balanced and sustainable infrastructure for the arts, guided by the principal provisions set out in its strategic overview, Developing the Arts in Ireland 2011-2013.
