Fáilte Ireland - traditional arts promotional opportunity

Fáilte Ireland are now actively collecting information for their promotional use, on traditional Irish music, song, dance and other events, venues, ‘Learn to’ courses (for traditional music, song and dance) and on pubs participating in a traditional Irish music session or performance programme. Using this information, Fáilte Ireland are planning to increase their promotional profiling of traditional Irish arts events and programmes via the new Discover Ireland consumer website and through other appropriate channels.

If there are any traditional Irish events, venues or activities which you would like to see featured, this information can be submitted through the new data collection website at www.FailteIreland.ie/trad. For the avoidance of duplication, Fáilte Ireland are also working closely with other appropriate organisations as well as the Arts Council e.g. Comhaltas, County Arts Officers, the Irish Vintners Federation etc

The deadline for submitting information, via the website, is Friday, February 4, 2011. There are no fees involved in submitting the information or in Fáilte Ireland profiling it.

Competition: A visual sense of the Gaeltacht?

If you are a visual artist, what does it mean to be from the Gaeltacht or to have a connection with it?  Can you express this connection through your art? Does a 'sense' of the Gaeltacht influence or inform contemporary visual art practices?  These are the questions being posed by Donegal Gaeltacht gallery, An Gailearaí.

A new national visual arts competition entitled Ciall invites visual artists from across the island to submit their responses to these questions.   The first prize is €5,000 and runners-up will receive €1,000.

Entries close on 25 February 2011.
