The Writers in Libraries Scheme provides funding for imaginative literary events in libraries across the country.
Designed to encourage libraries to work in partnership with local and national literary festivals and resource organisations, the scheme also encourages the use of digital and social media.
The Scheme, established by the Arts Council in 1985, was formally re-launched in September 2010 and recently ten library authorities received support in the first round of funding under the Scheme.
Library authorities were invited to submit proposals and the successful projects are located in Cabra, Coolock and Tallaght in Dublin; County Clare; Macroom; County Louth; Waterford city, Enniscorthy and Longford/Offaly/Westmeath.
The Writers in Libraries Scheme is co-funded by An Chomhairle Leabharlanna, the Arts Council and the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. It is managed and administered by Poetry Ireland.
