Vol 9 Issue 10
29 June 2012

Welcome to the June edition of our newsletter

In this month's newsletter the Arts Council announces that it is bringing forward the application deadline for its main grants programmes by several weeks. The application window for recurring funding programmes will open on 10 September and will close on 11 October. The Council made the decision in the context of the severe challenges for public funding, to assist arts organisations to plan better when faced with reductions in funding; decisions will be communicated by the end of 2012. You can read more information here.

The Arts Council is calling for expressions of interest for RAISE, a pilot scheme designed to help eight arts organisations plan, build and implement an ambitions fundraising programme.

The Arts Council also introduces its new literature scheme, Title by Title, designed to assist Irish publishers in the production of high quality literary publications. We show how the young people from youth arts groups who were awarded funding through the Arts Council's Young Ensembles Scheme (YES) 2011 participated in the showcase and networking event which took place in Sligo, in March. You can view a short video of the event here.

We are delighted to announce that Culture Ireland is inviting expressions of interest for commissioner for Ireland at the 54th Venice Art Biennale 2013. The Venice Biennale serves as a significant global showcase for artists and offers a prominent opportunity for Irish artists to engage with international audiences. Ireland's participation is funded by the Arts Council and Culture Ireland.

We have a deadline for Arts & Disability award Ireland 2012 – last chance is on 15 August at 4pm. Managed by the Arts & Disability Forum on behalf of the two arts councils on the island of Ireland, the Arts & Disability Awards Ireland scheme is a dedicated tool to support individual deaf or disabled artists.

You can read how The Arts Council has launched its Facebook page. Where you can receive regular updates about our funding and application deadline information, online services support resources and most general news updates from us followed by all the latest news and up and coming events from Arts Audiences.

The newsletter rounds off with our regular articles on News from the Arts Community and international opportunities from the (CCP) Cultural Contact Point.

Your sincerely

Orlaith McBride,

Director, Arts Council
