Welcome to the January edition of our Newsletter

This month the Arts Council will for the first time open applications for Arts Grant Funding, a new programme that forms a key part of our funding framework.

Arts Grant Funding will award money to organisations and individuals to carry out activities from July of this year right through to December 2019. These could be the creation of work for presentation to the public; development of artistic ideas or activities; or providing resources to artists and arts organisations.

The guidelines are already available on our website here, and the application window will open on 23 January, but as this is a new programme, we are planning a number of information sessions to help people interested in applying. We will hold one session in Cork on Tuesday, 30 January, and two in Dublin on 31 January. The information sessions will be free, but capacity is limited so if you wish to go please book your ticket here.

For those who can’t make it, one of the sessions will be recorded and will be available on our website or Facebook page.

January also marks the inauguration of a new arts organisation, Irish National Opera. This is the culmination of several years’ work by the Arts Council, and for audiences means a return of regular Irish productions of the classic opera repertoire – very exciting!

With best wishes for 2018,

Orlaith McBride
Director
