Works from the Collection of the Arts Council & Boyle Civic Art Collection
As part of the Bealtaine Festival 2019 Collective View presents an overview of how collections are formed and investigates the act of collecting as a civic gesture.
Drawn from two diverse collections it offers new perspectives on the contribution made by older artists to our cultural landscape.
The exhibition features work by some of Ireland’s most celebrated artists including Janet Mullarney, Elizabeth Magill, Willie Doherty and Anne Madden among others.

Spanning 250 years, Shaping Ireland: Landscapes in Irish Art comprises artworks by fifty artists, exploring the relationship between people and the natural world including works by Clare Langan and Seán McSweeney on loan from the Arts Council Collection.

The Precariat - Ursula Burke, Galway Arts Centre, Galway 31st May – 6th July
The Precariat brings together a suite of work that seeks to investigate the experience of insecurity, fast becoming a universal condition as we struggle to subsist in an impoverished and increasingly unstable civil society, in which personal solutions are prescribed to global problems.
The exhibition will include three works acquired for the Arts Council Collection in 2018.

These exhibitions represent one of the Arts Council’s key priorities of supporting public engagement with the arts set out in its 10 year strategy Making Great Art Work: Leading the Development of the Arts.
Over the coming years, the Arts Council Collection will continue to grow further expanding its programme of exhibitions, loans and partnerships aimed at facilitating the public across the country to experience and engage with the works first hand.
