Arts Council announces Traditional Artist in Residence at UCC.
The Arts Council, in association with the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences (UCC) and the School of Music and Theatre (UCC), has announced the appointment of the internationally renowned performer and teacher Desi Wilkinson, as the Traditional Artist in Residence at University College Cork 2015-16. Wilkinson will deliver a series of concerts, workshops and seminars over the course of his 1-year residency, beginning this month.

Following the awarding of the Ignite touring grant, Silent Moves by Aideen Barry and the artists of Western Care’s Ridgepool Training Centre, Scannán Technologies and presented by Ballina Arts Centre will tour to Galway, Cork, Dublin and Castlebar.

Descendants of 1916 Sought for Traditional Music Project
Children of the Revolution is a national research and performance project being devised and produced by Michael Fortune and Aileen Lambert and will feature an ensemble of traditional musicians and singers from throughout the island of Ireland for the 2016 Commemorations. While some musicians have already been identified, Lambert and Fortune are putting out an open call to all traditional musicians and singers with a 1916 Rising connection to contact them.
