The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) has issued an open call for tenders for a study on maximising the potential of mobility in building European identity and promoting civic participation in the EU.

2010: EU Year of Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion
Throughout 2010 events and activities will take place across Europe to increase public awareness of the existence of poverty and social exclusion, how it affects people and societies, and how it can be eliminated. The Year also aims to give a voice to those experiencing poverty and social exclusion by encouraging marginalised groups and disadvantaged communities to get involved in organising and participating in events.
In Ireland, the Year will be co-ordinated by the Social Inclusion Division of the Department of Social and Family Affairs. A programme of events and activities will be published later this year.

City Development & the Role of Culture, Linz, 10 December 2009
The Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, the Arts and Culture, will organise an information event entitled 'City Development & the Role of Culture' in cooperation with the Artist in Residence House Salzamt in Linz, Austria. The event takes place on 10 December 2009.
The agenda will comprise of the exchange of experience and know-how at the end of the year of "Linz09 - European Capital of Culture". An expert panel will discuss the importance of culture in the image of a city.
English/ German simultaneous interpretation will be available throughout the event.
