Welcome to the December edition of our Newsletter
It’s December already, and Christmas is almost upon us. For most people, this is a time to wind down, take stock for the year and enjoy a break. But for many artists and arts organisations this month’s activity will be the culmination of many weeks’ work, a time to make the books balance, and above all an opportunity to connect with the public in a special way.
There is so much great work to experience at this time of year, for every single person in Ireland, regardless of age or location, in so many different artforms. In our theatres and other performance venues, people will enjoy classic seasonal performances as well as new work. We will see the faces of our children light up as they experience dance, drama or music, perhaps for the first time in their lives.
So, at this time of year, I urge to all readers of this Newsletter to head down to your local arts venue and experience the best of Irish art; buy work by Irish artists; and join in our #WinterArtsEvents campaign on social media which will provide further information on the range of arts events happening this month across the country.
With best wishes,
