Reel Art next closing date – 17:30 Thursday 9th May 2019

The deadline for the next round of the Arts Council’s film award Reel Art is on Thursday 9th May 2019 before 17:30.  The window for making applications opens on Tuesday 9th April 2019.

The purpose of Reel Art is to provide film artists with the opportunity to make highly creative, imaginative and experimental documentaries on an artistic theme for cinema exhibition. Two films will be supported in 2019. A total fund of €102,500 will be made available to each of the successful applicants (to include a production budget of €90,000 and further exhibition support of €12,500). Only films that can be made within this budget will be considered. The films must be completed to premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival, our exhibition partner, in February 2021.

Applications for Reel Art 2019 must be made directly to the Arts Council before 17:30 on Thursday, 9 May 2019. Guidelines and details of the application process are published on our website on the available funding section.

Please note:  Applications will only accepted through the Arts Council’s online services website.  It is recommended that applicants allow five working dates for registration prior to making an application.

Information clinics:   Prospective applicants are invited to attend an information session where representatives from the Arts Council will discuss Reel Art as well as other upcoming film awards and answer questions.  Information sessions will take place at two locations as follows:

Pálás Cinema, 15 Merchant’s Road, Galway on Tuesday 9th April 2019 from 1.30pm – 3.30pm and

Goethe-Institut, 37 Merrion Square, Dublin 1 on Wednesday 10th April 2019 from 11am – 1pm.

Those interested in attending should register by emailing info@aemi.ie by 2nd April 2019.
