Mark O’Halloran appointed as Film Artist in Residence at UCC

University College Cork and the Arts Council are delighted to announce the appointment of Mark O’Halloran as Film Artist in Residence Screenwriter for 2017–2018.

The residency, which is jointly funded by the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences, UCC, and the Arts Council, is designed to provide a screenwriter of distinction with a unique opportunity to develop his/her practice in a university environment while also offering students the opportunity to engage with a practising artist in a meaningful way during the course of their studies.

Mark O’Halloran is the fourth film artist to be appointed to the role and he follows Carmel Winters, Gerard Stembridge and Hugh Travers who have each enjoyed successful residencies at UCC since the role was first established in 2014.

Mark is a distinguished screenwriter with an international reputation who brings a wealth of experience to his role at UCC. We hope that the residency will provide him with the time and space to build on his diverse practice as a writer within the creative environment of UCC”.
